An Unknown Era

Lost dreams or forgotten goals
They lie and wait in the midst
An unknown era blurry to the eyes
Our path to us is uncertain

We only sit and wait to see
Yet it does not arrive
We do not try so we do not fail
We shelter ourselves and procrastinate

We think it will come on its own
It will not be given
It it a gift that must be earned
Gain knowledge and experience before

We only sit and wait to see
Yet it does not arrive
If you do not try you cannot fail
Becoming lazy and waiting for it's arrival

It is determined and stubborn
It is uncertain and changing
It is challenging and frightful
It is rewarding and blissful

We only sit and wait to see
Yet it still has not arrived
We ponder and plead
Why will it not come and be known

It lies in wait for us
Which road we shall take
Decide which life we will set ourself
It is in our own hands that it waits

We now stand and speak up
No longer waiting but deciding
Taking chances and risks
Understanding and achieving our lost dreams

No longer lost or afraid
We stand tall and sure
The fog clears in the midst
Now seeing a once unknown era

Now understanding that the future waited for us
It was not us waiting for it
We are here and we continue on
Never stopping because our future is waiting
