An Unlikely Teacher

You found me alone, you said that you cared

Yet over the years I find I'm ensnared

You taught me to run, to hide, and to cry

But now I recognize your dangerous crime,

To tell me I'm nothing, I've lost, no one's here

So that I'm forced to believe only you'll hear

All my dreams that you claim are insane

All of the love that's "too far away"

So you can gnaw at my heart with the games that you play

You said I was the queen, but now I find, I'm surrounded by pawns on the board of your lies

I will scream NO

I know I can win

I won't be entangled by the weight of your sin

So now you can go

For I have been taught

That you, Fear, are nothing but rot

Chewing away at our tender hearts

You taught my to run away, from you

You taught me to hide, from your lies

You taught me to cry, when I achieve everything you said I could not

So Fear, my unlikely teacher, thank you a lot
