To the Unloved
To the Unloved, I understand;
To those who feel unloved, know that I care
Wherever you are, know that you are not alone
My feet hurt, though my journey is short
My arms ache, though my work is easy
I am fearful, though I have no oppressor
I lose sleep, though my bed is soft
I'm grieving, though I have lost nothing
I'm bleeding, though I have no cuts
I'm freezing, though my clothes are warm
I'm drenched, though my roof stops the rain
I'm crawling, though I can stand
I'm breaking, though my burden is light
I feel empty, though I have eaten
I feel alone, though I am loved
I feel bound, though I live in freedom
I seek to comfort the depressed, the hopeless
I hear the cries of the helpless, the forgotten
I see the tears of the broken, the downtrodden
I feel your sorrow, and I understand
I sense your pain, and I experience it as my own
