Unmasked

People see you walking around

Always with a smile and never a frown

How are you they ask just to say hi

And you answer with your go to lie

I’m great you say how about you

They say they are doing well too

So you turn around and walk away

And both of you go on your way

The periods go by one by one

Until the day is finally done

Once you’re home you go straight upstairs

Closing the door you really don’t care

One tear falls then they multiply

Little squeals come out as you try not to cry

The mask has come off and the truth is revealed

You’re a fragile girl who’s far from healed
