Unname

Naming a person is a hand on their spine,

a meeting of eyes,

a final fault line

caving into recognition.

You will call me by name

and i am a petri dish,

a diagram,

a pet fish in an empty bowl.

To speak your name is to touch you

and your language is static against my skin

and I don’t want to say

that I love you

every time I say hello.
