The Unobtainable Powers
I walk.
Striding through the illusions of life,
Hungry for stability and peace.
I gaze...
My lens focus repetitively
Though the picture remains a blurry silhouette.
I rise,
High above the peoples of the earth within my
Deepest cavities of thought.
See my radiant colors through my immodest gait,
Concealing what I lack.
How will I find tranquility?
For it is what I cannot fathom, nor can I
Breathe the air in simplicity without its prescence.
My dreams stir within my psyche,
Building a strong soul, frightening me daily.
I am overwhelmed by a stampede of thoughts
As dreams, nightmares, hopes and worries sing Their ballads, bellowing louder or softer as they please.
And in the heart of the storm, where the tumult is immense,
I yearn to find that token, that hidden treasure,
That Eastern sunrise, the reassuring breeze...
To show that I will be able to obtain what I need.
The acquired tranquility of the mind.
