Unpolished

Perfection.

A word often used to describe

Everyone

But

Ourselves.

A person with flawless skin?

Perfect.

Long, straight tamable hair?

Perfect.

Beautiful eyes fringed with long eyelashes?

Perfect.

Characteristics we don't have,

we compliment and praise

Looking in the mirror,

we consider ourselves

insignificant and rough,

Analyzing mistakes

that we curse for being there.

Hair's not long enough.

Skin too dark.

Eyelashes too short.

Too flat-chested.

Not tall enough.

These small imperfections

become BIG

as our mind centers on them,

Making our imperfections

the center

of

our

universe.

LIke a poison,

these imperfections

break us down,

leaving us insecure

about ourselves.

Despite these insecurities,

imperfections, and mistakes,

others compliment them,

making us feel a little better about ourselves.

It gives us confidence about

our flawed character,

and we smile on the inside

for those that like our unpolished selves.
