An Unrelenting Midnight

My cheeks flush. My heart pounds. The edge of my vision fades into a dark abyss. The panic begins to swallow me whole. I notice him staring at my uncontrollable shaking. Soon it becomes clear as glass. It feels like my entire life has been a joke. A cruel prank that everyone is in on. Except me. Until now. I realize that I am the lynch man in my own hanging. At this point, the end is the one thing I desire most. I am jolted back into reality. My vision focuses. I can tell he is trying to read my unspoken pleas for forgiveness. My face turns into an unyielding stone. It is the only thing I can control. My life is spinning out of control, like a murderous cyclone. There is no light at the end of this perpetual tunnel. No way out. So I turn around and walk away. Trying to escape my own existence. Trying to escape my own fate
