Unrequited

As an elfin fairy dreamed,
I wanted her, for her I looked.
To touch her peony lips was my wish,
Giving the forest another longing look, away I turned.

Unrequited love is mine,
For this ethereal nymph will never love me.
Alone I stand, snow settling on my lonely heart.
Yet I still hope, hope for a glimpse
Of the girl who stole my heart from me.

A light shines as her eyes do in my soul
I follow, alive, feeling whole
This princess sings of her passion.
I begin to wish, to lose all ration.

Maybe requited love is mine
This ethereal nymph might love me
No longer alone I stand, snow melting on my heart
And so I hope, hope for the truth
That this girl might return my heart to me

Creeping closer, I spy a glint of gold.
A ring is on her finger, I grow cold.
A handsome elf holds her waist
I cannot look, must turn my face.

Unrequited love is forever mine,
This ethereal nymph will never love me
Forever alone I stand, snow settling on my heart.
Yet I still hope, hope for a last glimpse
Of this girl that stole my heart from me.

Curled up upon a knoll,
I weep out my heart and soul
I felt my life slip away; I didn't argue.
I could not bear to stay.

My heart remembered with pain,
The reason it was broken. It stopped.
And so I departed this world, my live unrequited.
