Unrequited

I love you
Almost too much to bear
With your sparkly brown eyes
And your curly black hair

You are the sole person, my soul person
My connections, reflections, digressions
Correction
You’re my soul in a person
You kept it in you
And took it with you
And where did you go

I’m not happy but I’m not exactly sad
Or mad
Just crispy
And society’s taught me
That no one wants the burnt piece

I love you like that old guy from up loves balloons
I love you like I used to love Saturday morning cartoons
And you would’ve watched them with me
Because you love me too
Or you loved me
Or

All along its just been a tale of love unrequited
A flame unignited
And I love you despite it
Despite your running away and
Alienation

And turning on me like Lucifer
I am NOT calling myself God
Because I took my words like hell fire
And I burned you unrecognizable

That’s maybe why I did not recognize when you
Decided to break my soul in two
Or three
Or nine
How divine
That you could
Sever these ties so cleanly.
