unrequited memory - for k.a.

sometimes i just sit and remember

i remember the way sheer electricity would run through my skin

from yours whenever you brushed my arm

i remember the way i looked at your lips,

always wanting to have them on my own

i remember the way i had to fight kissing you spontaneously

i remember how i imagined how your fingertips would feel

on my bare back

through my hair

how your lips would feel

on my lips

on my eyelids

on my forehead

i remember how you were never mine

i remember how badly i wanted you

i remember the last time i saw you

it had been months since my infatuation had begun

and i remember

not feeling a trace of a butterfly

and

as its wings lay still within my stomach

i remember feeling content

in the face of my unrequited future

I'm Kelsey. Sex positive, liberal, feminist, hot mess, sorority girl, laughs at everything. Sometimes I write awful poetry.
