An Unspoken Truth

I never thought one day you’d say

That you never wanted me anyways,

But the day came and I found out,

My biological dad had given me up.

It’s a sad feeling that tears you apart,

And sometimes you just want to get swallowed up.

But in reality I had to open up my eyes,

To notice the man I’ve called Dad all my life.

He took me and mom in,

When my biological dad gave us up

And although I’m thankful for him taking me in,

I can say that for the very first time,

I wish I could erase that event from my life.

From my brain,

From my heart,

From my memory,

Because finding out something so painful,

It really hits you,

Like a slap to the face with cold water.

It startles you awake

And you realize that what you believed all your life

Has been a lie,

Nothing but a bloody lie
