Unspoken Words
Look Chicago
I’m tired of all these drive bys
And white lies of your tattered buildings
Your cracked reflection of your
Cemented side walks
You’re a plague of your own
You droop like the leaves
Of the weeping willow tree
You shed invisible tears of blood
Tainting the soul of the creatures
Known as human beings
I’ll leave you Chicago
One day I will be free
Of you and your polluted air
You see me as nothing but a tool
I am not you
Nor do I want to be
You try to bombard me
With you high expectations
I’m no more than a tiger lily
Fragile to the touch
Yet you lock me away
Blocking out the light
So I only grow as big as you want
As tall as your limits
You and Chicago
You two are one in the same
Clinging to me as if I am your possession
Can’t you see how you hinder my ability
Staggering my growth
Until I to become a statistic
Until I to be called a bitch
With no future to see
Can’t you see how you have blinded me
16 and pregnant
Is not in my future
Nor will it ever be
So don’t cry your invisible tears of blood over me
And not think that I will break free
Form this choke hold of a killing spree
Breaking through the chains of my brethren
Attached to arms, legs, ankles, and hearts
Yes I can feel it now
1 more year in this hell bound place
1 more year to live life as a disgrace
1 more year before I stat to chase
My new found freedom
Out of this horrible place
