Until...

I don’t have glowing recommendations from instructors, countless hours of volunteer work, or a family history of doctors, politicians, or great contributors to society.

I haven’t had what you might call a wonderful upbringing with a father molding his son to be a great man, a loving mother cooking dinner every night or family savings to pave the way to a meaningful career.

I do have the drive to forge my own path and build my own future.

I don’t want to follow in the footsteps of others around me or a family that came before me. I am simply not content with a minimum wage job in a gas station or warehouse.

So what do I want? My dream does not stray far from the common “American dream”.

I want a home with a yard big enough for a few kids, myself, a loving wife, and the income to give them what I never had.

I want a career that I can enjoy and that will give me a sense of accomplishment every day.

I want to feel like I made a difference in the life of everyone around me and a contribution to humanity as a whole.

I’ve always felt as though I should push for more, like I should be doing something meaningful.

I have a strong sense of empathy, and felt like everyone else’s pain and misfortunes are my burden, my responsibility; but seldom have the resources or opportunity to do anything about it.
