Until I met you...

I was lost in a bottle of whiskey (in a bottle of whiskey) Just drowning myself in my head Should have smoked the cigarettes instead But that was until, that was until... I met you I was lost in my emotions Popping the pills just to get to bed Didn't know where to rest my dear, little head But that was until, that was until... I met you Didn't know that you were out there waiting for me Didn't know I was blind, but now you made me see 'Cause I'm just a boy And I'm just a girl Trying to survive in this dull, cold world But that was until, that was until... I met you Thought I'd have to end this war on my own Thought my last call would be on another dead-line phone Didn't see myself on another person's arm Didn't want to take the chance of me getting harmed But that was until, that was until... But that was until, you walked my way When you went and took my breath away (That was until) you caught my eye No longer I'll be alone at night (That was until) you spoke like art Knew that you were 'the one' right from the start That was until... yeah that was until 'Cause that was until, that was until... I met you

Beautiful poem! You address many issues that individuals go through, but that can be fixed by simply the love of another person. This poem reads very much like a song would. Have you thought about turning it into a song? It would be great if you made a video of this poem as a song and uploaded it to the site! Or, maybe check out "poetry writing tips" for music in the "resources" section!

Wrote this for any person who's been infatuated for a tortured soul...
