Until this last year I

Until this last year I never

Once commended my ability to be content with my own

Face and it’s features because I allowed

The wrong society to tell me that I wasn’t light enough with lips that were too full

 They said

And what I now see every time I am willing to put fourth effort

 To love me

And adore the same face I have now with products that promise satisfaction

I still saw myself as unhappy full of flaws

and the more surly  I became at the same face I have now

but darling, last year was the beginning

an unfolded me

whom rejected the paint the world said would make me beautiful

Because until last year, I surrounded myself with people who loved me for who they thought I was and those flaws they ignored taught me that I have character, but Oh God

I am alone more than ever, and yet so content,

making mental connections and finally cleaning my mirrors

Until last year I saw flaws and then I remembered that I have

some say in what I see in my own reflection.
