Until Midnight

Staying up until midnight,

Listening to lofi,

Praying for a better light,

To make it through the next night,

Spending afternoons watching the clock’s hand,

Turn and kick its way around,

A rather soft boredom lay in my head,

But a more harsh truth stays there instead,

I've been told all the narrow ways,

And short ends,

All are for my better trend or even wend.

That I sit through the lousy thoughts with rushed determination,

Against all of my own self-preservation.

Hard seats,

With broken means,

All are supposedly for my own good.

As they say one day,

“You'll thank me!”

Yes I suppose,

When I lie in my own brain holes.

I have no heart anymore,

So I must say goodbye,

As I miss you,

Nevermore.

Place of pained laughter and toothy smiles,

Lies built upon generations,

All once again, for our,

Self-preservation,

I won’t miss staying up until midnight.
