Until Tomorrow

The sun and the sky part

In the most beautiful farewell I’ve ever seen

Bleeding together

Even as they pull apart-

Rays of light stretching like fingers

Extended in a lover’s caress.

Her light

gently strokes his face

Streaming across it like tears

Neither willing to let the other go

Until she sinks

Below the horizon

And all he has left of her

Is her image

Imprinted

Behind his eyelids.
