Untitled
Aronna Roy
In the message-house of the full moon,
I finally bought that mountain—
Yes, that very mountain over there,
Where Amalkanti sits,
Waiting to become the sunshine,
And where you, too, can touch the clouds with your bare hands.
Yes, that mountain.
In exchange, I gave away
My river,
My little river.
So what if I must leave my flowing spirit behind,
And remain forever still, rooted to the ground?
At least, I could give you the mountain.
You might say,
"Oh, you foolish soul! Who trades a river for a mountain?"
"You've been terribly cheated."
But Amalkanti will become the sunshine,
And you will feel the touch of the clouds,
That is worth far more than any river of mine.
I finally bought that mountain,
And in exchange, I gave away
My river, my little river.
