Untitled #1

Being Brown

As a brown woman, we are taught to carry the burden of the world around

Always getting put down

Never allowed to look up from the ground

We’ve been subjected to abuse that will make any woman frown

Discriminated against in our own race for being different shades of brown

Or if were from a different part of town

I just wanna see all my brown skin ladies in met gala gowns

 Without any type of bounds

Heads held high and proud

So, you finally see our natural born crowns

I'm 25 years old, currently residing in Tampa, FL. Just started writing about two years ago. So I considered myself a beginner poet. I would like constructive criticism while reading other poets work and the opportunity to network. Peace, Love and Happiness
