Untitled

You look with jealousy, contempt, and rage. It may seem bigger, but mine is still a cage. Gilded and jeweled, you don't see the bars. Blinded by the brilliance, you miss the scars.I am the raven, you are the dove. Confined we miss the detached perspective we achieve from above. Never to soar, never to glde. In our jails we're forced to hide. You are the hope of life. I bring the promise of death. Our common ground is breath. A sigh of content or a wail of sorrow. We miss these moments and it leaves us hollow. Stare at the stone... many manynights go by. I sit alone and wonder why? Why do I cry? What is this pain? Will I ever be whole again? You are my dove, I'll be still. Heal my heart so I can feel. Give the hope that I'll still fly. Beyond the clouds to the starry skies. I am your raven, silent I'm there. To give you calm, I'll hold you fair. I'll harbor your soul when depths are deep. I'll help life find a peaceful sleep. Pretend, lay down, I'll hold you tight. Together we'll have that gracious flight. We live in cages large and small. If life joined death we'd see it all... And never fall
