untitled

Since you been gone fear has filled your space, I want so bad to leave this place, but every time i try to leave pain and fear stop, no matter what I try to do, trouble continues to follow me, I try so hard to let go, but pain, fear and my past won't leave me be, sometimes I feel like I take one step, just to go a 1000 steps back, my life is slowly slipping through my hands, its like whatever I touch crumbles at my feet, I'm trying so hard to get you to see I'm not as strong as I pretend to be, my tears are my river, my confusion is my boat, but its getting really hard to stay afloat, I'm drowing in my own guilt and shame, sinking very slowly inmy pain, this how its been since the day you left me, I'm going in circles, I'm like a puppy chasing after its own tail, searching for an open door, but all of them have closed and locked on me,I'm surrounded by darkness I'm searching for the light, asking questions but receiving no answers, I'm in over my head, with no hope in sight, I'm reaching out my hand please don't ignore, I been struggling with this too long and I can't take no more, I'm fighting a fight that I can't win, but I refuse to back down or give in, but the final blow its so low I'm still curled on the floor, piece by piece I'm slowly falling apart, the smile on my face says that I'm fine, but look deeper in my heart and you'll know that I'm lying, the only thing that keeps me together is breaking down and crying, I've reached my breaking point, I've had more burdens than one person should be allowed to bear, I'm growing weak, don't you see, I'm running from an enemy, I can't run no more, I'm shackled and want to be free, so please if you care won't you rescue me, won't you save me from my enemy, especially when the enemy is me?

I am 21 years old, am attending Hamline University in Saint Paul, MN in September with a major in creative writing, I have been writing poetry since I was nine, and began shortly after the death of my foster dad in 2002, and been writing ever since. this scholarship would mean a lot to me because I live with my foster mom who can't send me through school on the social security income she receives. This has been my biggest dream to be the first in my family to go to college without dropping out and graduate with a degree.
