Untitled

It’s good to know

That everyone in my life will let me down

That the tightening in my chest will never go away

That those tears will always threaten to fall

And when I speak, they’ll keep their word

Not the people—the tears

Because no one is really here to stay

It’s good to know

That I can’t even depend on myself

To solve problems or keep demons at bay

Because my mind is constantly either on strike

Or warring with itself or the rest of me

But I’ve become good at being alone

So I guess I’ll just have to learn to make my own way
