Untitled
This summer I went to wonderland, or rather it came to me.
It whispered my name; Come!, It declared beckoning with glee.
I thought a land with such a name would be truly filled with wonder.
But all it left me with, was wondering, on and on I did blunder.
Through and through I kept wandering, unknowing of the flow of time.
Besides my warped thoughts the world was a quiet mime.
Seemingly mocking my every which twist and turn.
Knowing that I would find nothing and soon would give up, sit down, and burn.
Eureka! I found it! Victory was mine!
Though my way out of this confusion, unannounced to me, would follow with a fine.
In retrospect I often ponder If I would have taken this way out;
if I had known before the price I would pay.
In its own unique way ;
it had blinded me yet opened my sights without a doubt.
There I went on my weary way down this hole that promised me a new beginning.
It followed through, and something did begin; but i was deceived and began thinning.
When I was reduced to skin and bones and my heart was weighing me down,
The hole gave me another way out, a way for my emotions to drown.
So I did what it told me and removed my heart
Finally free of my feelings, we were a world apart.
Soon I became frightened with my inability to feel.
Back I went to the hole for answers telling it this time the remedy better be real.
Smiling with a face that made me shudder and become quite chilled.
He whispered a remedy that rang with terror but with which it was quite thrilled.
In hesitation consequence ran through my mind.
If I had only once listened
When my eyes began to glisten
To the little part of me that I rarely ever find.
Never mind I whispered, with fear and anger, I did what I was told.
My skinned turned a rush of red, but for once I felt like gold.
I was in control and or at this time I thought
But I was hand in hand with a demon that I had already fought.
This time he promised he was my friend,
But I was still broken and this remedy did not mend.
I soon realized that the demon was a ploy,
So I fought him with all I had and kicked him out with joy.
Short lived was this joy and I again began to sink,
Though I knew deep down I had to stop listening to the hole and for myself I must think.
Onward I travel on my own
Thankfully so
Continually telling the hole no
The demons lips are shut for they are forever sown.
