Untitled

I remember when the world stopped. When the wind halted in its tracks And time hung suspended from tree branches. When the snowflakes paused, Centimeters from my skin, And my tentative touches could not melt them. A candle flickered, flame a breath from smothering, The wick glowing as the last dying ember of a winter fire. I remember when I sat in the silver snow And looked at the frozen world around me, At the leaves about to snap from the weight of the icicles hanging from them, The moon just revealed from its cloak of dusky clouds, Reflecting light that made the world shimmer.
