Untitled

what kind of tree

am i? you ask

with a "save this tree"

sign in your hands

i am marked with

a peculiar symbol

x does not mark the

spot. i do.

your environmentally friendly

snack crumbs sprinkle in front of me

as pixie dust

but i do not think even you

know who you are fighting

on my behalf

so before

the construction workers with

hard hats and hard hearts and hard heads

rip me apart

i crumble inside of myself

until i am a stack of sticks

until i am not a tree
