Untitled

Sometimes

I get this deep, ripping sadness

Like something is missing

Even when everything

Seems to be falling

Perfectly into place

And then I realize

Something is missing

A part of me is missing

A part of my heart

I left it long ago

On the East Coast

Pieces in the greens of Virginia

Pieces in the damp of Pennsylvania

Pieces in the streets of New York

Scattered along the rocky coastline

And I wonder

If I miss it more

Than the piece I would leave

On the West Coast

I call home
