untitled

as i rested my head on your shoulder

i couldn't help but think of how

infinitely large our universe it but

how small it felt when i was with you

maybe it's because you learned

to see me as more than a skeleton

you looked past the messy braids and

quivering fingers and you saw

the timid heart resting in the corner

you picked me up in the palm of your hand

and brushed the sleepy dust from

my cheeks where the tears dried

you brought oxygen back into my

lungs when i thought i was drowning

you moved mountains that stood in

my way but you still let

me see the wildflowers

to call you my hero would be inaccurate

because you did so much more

than show up in shining armor

i cannot label you

as others did me

because you are what

words fail to describe
