Untitled
A fairytale doesn't have to mean an extravagant dress, a prince at your front door, or a castle that looks down to the sea.
In fact, my favorite fairytale begins
when he opened a bottle of sparkling cider like it was champagne on New Years Eve and played his favorite song through the old speakers at his dad's house
and he started to dance, like he always did
-like he always will
We pretended like we owned the house and acted as if we were proper adults as he handed me a cold glass of bubbling youth
A fairytale like this is rare
pure
endless
So it is not a typical fairytale, no
A young girl's life will never be a story,
and she will never leave anything openended
because the simple beauty of living each day and learning and dreaming and loving,
will always provide her a subtle hint of fictitious forces
that will guide her on a long, dirt path
to a fairytale she created
all on her own
