Unwanted Judgement

Living up to unwieldy expectations,
can make us want to give up and submit.
Outside voices speak their mind's frustrations
without the conscious concern of resent.

Why do other people's thoughts affect us
When they don’t know or share what we believe.
Yet what they say tortures us more because
what they say is easier to conceive.

What we think and do to improve ourselves
Is never enough for them to silence
What they think is best inside, it depends
not how we feel, but on their convenience

Tune out all of the outside commotion,
don’t let that distract from your devotion
