Unwanted Yet Needed: A STEM Field

The men of a unified job force

More excepted in STEM occupations

None at all think about the women

As they peruse to a higher level of learning.

They become set in mind with this stereotype,

Like a stubborn child not wanting to share,

And yet they continue to learn as I am left in the dark.

I admire the few women who overcome this task

Going against the odds of failure due to gender

Who suffer criticism daily by their male coworkers

But struggles forward in an attempt to break the gender gap.

I want to struggle as well through this challenge,

I want to be in a STEM occupation, learning new and intriguing topics

I am just as intellectual as the men in this field if anything I am more,

And the men of this world judge me, and other women for pursuing the task

Fathers, Instructors, Teachers, Councilor’s, all men in my life who have tried to stop me

The Job force of STEM in this world is poisoned

And they wonder why so many women are not pursing careers in STEM

Over-run by men who ridicule women not by our intellect but by our gender

And yet in school I was the one with better grades

My own instructors however suggested otherwise due to my gender,

I got the A+ on my score sheet, and because I am a girl I am suggested to bail out

I will not, I am just as important and beneficial to this field then any male counter-parts

And when the men of this field are confused, and lacking the extra intellectual qualities women bring

Wanting us to enter their field of territory in order to support the STEM community

That is when women will start entering into the STEM field at a more common ratio.
