(Un)willing

Your grasp slips wetly

Rope fraying beneath your nails

My own scrabble matters not

In the face of your hopelessness

Love

you love me

yet

you seem ready

to lose me

Your face shies away

A hapless shadowed cloak

I pack the bags under your gaze

Hoping my action stays your hand

Love

you have me

despite

my lifelong irreverence

of hallowed souls

Your words weave lopsided figures

Twine of lies and dejection

Taut even as our thread unravels

My pleas returned without warmth

Love

you love me

yet

you seem unwilling

to love me.
