Upon A Painted Ocean

As a ship sails the sea

Of unfortunate events that have to be

The waves curling the windy path

Through god’s blow do we see the wrath

Bloody tears from the sky

Mixed with shame and purple names

Wait indigo gives off a better ring

Proposals of white flowers amongst the summer flings

But that’s the thing

We live in the dirty abyss

Scared of oblivion and inevitable nothingness

But when there is one kiss

Or one lost opportunity we’re bound to miss

We sit in the grass

While the seasons of affectivity pass

We allow the sun to stray in orbit

And we allow the holes in our stomachs to burn and stay a pit

And when any hair is out of place

It becomes a distant memory you assuringly try to replace

And then you look anywhere at any lifeless object and see the face

Of the one you love whom you lost to the sea of things that will never mean anything to anyone but you and me

And one day maybe the rest of the god damned world will be able to see

The world amounts to nothing

You owe nobody nothing

You mean nothing

We’re all plain

Just the same

As redundant as a painted anchor

Upon a pained painted ocean
