The Ups and Downs of My Winding Road

My life is like a Winding Road

And when I bottled things up, I overflowed.

So when I unscrewed the lid,

Adults realised,

I was just a kid.

Yet they pushed me, played me,

Treated me like I was the key,

To unlock every door that stood in their way

Never anything more.

Never asked if I was ok...

My life is like a Winding Road

But I have been burdened with too heavy a load

But if my parents were to ask?

Oh, by God would I back track.

And yet, to God I pray

To just let me fade away.

And I wish he answered, I really did!

Instead he turned away, as if I'd sinned.

My life is like a Winding Road

And when my brain finally slowed,

I looked around, but all I could see-

Was that in this world,

I would never be free.

So, I remained trapped, like a beast contained

And in the kingdom of cages I reigned,

Slowly sinking in a pit of quicksand

Where I experienced hatred. Firsthand.

My life is like a Winding Road,

Where darkness lurks in a heavy ode

My voice suppressed, and heart deposed,

What's to protest,

When the matter is closed?

Nor hail, nor rain, nor pale weather so,

Could drag me down to Hell below,

No matter the pain inflicted on me,

My life with God was all I could foresee.

My life is like a Winding Road

And in my system the Lord encodes

A gilded cage, Weaved from gold and platinum wires,

The only way to slow my rage

From the despotism that wrecks my desires.
