Ups and Downs Revisted
November 2016
Ups and downs, twist and turns.
Don't get me started on the number of burns.
It's been rough, I'll admit,
But I won't let myself quit.
Friends have been lost and made.
But, overall, this year was an escapade.
Stressful at times, and sometimes worse,
But ahead there is a blank verse.
This year is almost done,
I can almost say I've won.
September 2017
I survived that year, but the next began,
My mind feels like a war in Iran.
The voices scream and shout;
I just want to get them out.
I don’t think I can go on,
Just waiting for the day that others will say I’m gone.
For now I’ll put on a smile,
And I’ll just wait awhile.
“Maybe I can escape”
That’s what I think as I look at the landscape.
But then I look inside my mind,
I don’t like what I find.
Everything inside me
Focuses on the underline.
