Dear Anonymous,
The bench, where you're probably finding this letter, has been my happy place.
I thought maybe, just maybe, someone would be curious enough to know why.
Well... Here goes nothing:
The story
of who I am,
that no one knows
that no one sees
the pain
she left inside of me.
She couldn't resist
the constant urge
to find the glimmer
her emotions surge.
The anger or tears
the glass on the floor
the motherly love
disappeared.
No more.
I couldn't laugh,
nor could I smile
I'd never want
to stay home awhile.
Home was destruction
home was my fear
home held the heartbreak
that isn't easy to hear.
I couldn't understand
the demon inside
of my once precious role-model
from whom I had to hide.
She couldn't resist
the constant urge
to chase like a child
who desires candy or sparkles
for those they travel miles.
The shiny bottle,
the fizz and crack
of a new option,
they hit her full-throttle.
She couldn't resist
the constant urge
every emotion
she started to purge
She was no more
the monster took over
it lived there for years
until finally- rock bottom.
Even through years of gray,
there is now yellow and blue.
Don't be discouraged.
You're worth more than that, you know...
Do you?
Sincerely,
Maddie
