The Use of Suess (A Really Bad Poem)
The use of Seuss in all my rhymes
Can cause me great anxiety
For though I've tried it many times
I just cannot write poetry
Without the sound of the Lorax,
or perhaps the Cat in the Hat
Sadly for me, these are the true facts.
How I wish I could be rid of that!
I have tried my hand at serious verse,
But, so far, it just hasn't worked.
My past attempts were often much worse
Than forty elephants going berserk.
I can think of many metaphors
For how badly I write,
But in my head, there’s nothing for
The new poem within my sight
At least, I say, I’m not all Seuss,
I do not make up nonsense words
I don’t put yordles on a caboose
Or give starring roles to smerds.
Smorfurs nor arlums
Nor smurgledeeboos
Will you find in my poems--
Except I just used them. Boo hoo.
I look at the poem I've written and read,
And cannot help but weep
But then a thought pops into my head,
One I think I’d like to keep.
Though my Seuss use is cheesy,
Tacky, crazy, and insane
This style is unique, clever and funny,
And is mine, all the same.
