a used bookstore

always with a certain smell

you know someone has read the book you are reading,

they have flipped through the pages

and gifted them to you

so you could enjoy it.

you can see if they have written little notes

to summarize their own intimate thoughts

or when a page was folded.

sometimes you can even be transported

to their time and place

by seeing sand imprints

or coffee stains.

I love what is a used bookstore.
