Used to (Still) Love You
Cry with me, sky
because I don't see these tears stopping.
Another day passes
and the branding of you on my mind burns.
My heart was yours innocently:
giggles burrowed in my sleeve
tender hugs
looking at you and only you...
My body became yours quickly:
my first kiss and first time simultaneous
thoughts raging to stop but hands moving, moving
and lips and bodies colliding...
It carried into summer blissfully:
Ignorance, sneakiness
not myself, not yourself
but you found someone else.
You left me for her
and three months later the tables turned.
But you've branded me with your charming
sultry smirk, snarky words, beautiful body.
It burns my mind when my tears fall
and thoughts of you consume me.
It's complicated because you'll always be the dear friend
I used to (still) love.
