Useless Fight

The pain swells inside me with every breath Covering me in the blackness of night Pulling me down to the heart of its depth Drowning out any and all sparks of light Gasping for air It’s a useless fight My heart laid bare My tears shining bright Opening before me: an ocean of tears I’m completely swallowed by my deepest fears Running down a hallway, surrounded by mirrors Reflecting back at me as my hopelessness nears My trust is so broken, shattered like glass All my piercing screams for help echo back My real terror, come alive in me at last The fracture in my heart about to crack Gasping for air It’s a useless fight My heart laid bare My tears shining bright My fear of my loss is smothering me Surrounding me in the coldest of waves Ignoring my cries and my calls, my pleas Forsaking the love my heart desperately craves
