Utopia
Its still like yesterday when you suddenly appeared my way
You were there oblivious of me and what my gut had to say
This is too good to be true
however my heart my wife it wanted you to be
the pragmatic analyst in me knew this is how you stupid
And then you were gone
no name just a memory
A memory that just wouldn’t fade
On the day I saw you my heart I betrayed
And then began the search
eventually a name emerged
90 days on I was at your door
Under false pretences to start a rapport
But with falsehood came uncertainties
And a chance with you I never got.
You are doomed when your gut and the universe conspires against you
Coz I walked with my head held low
Only to be told that my presence, an effect it had bestowed
What manner of madness, I came for you
And now you wanted to know me.
My gut feeling must have been right
The magnet that draws people together
a mystery even an analyst cannot decipher.
Now you are sitting across the table from me
And I could tell my gut was certainly right
Cause now my head, you, it began to admire
Our ideologies our plans too similar to ignore
And God, were you beautiful
In my excitement I broke the one cardinal rule
Never give all your heart!
Cause now I was naked
The good, the bad, the ugly all at your feet
And you focused on the bad.
Forgetting the impermanence of any moment
Overlooking that where I was
Wouldn’t be where I will always be.
Another 90 days down the road
Here I am 21 days away from the bad
And yet you still seem so far
The good place that cannot be
The utopian story of us.
