Utterance

My love is not stored in my heart

but my eardrums.

When there is nothing else,

I cling to the noise that keeps me alive.

Sounds separate a lifeless corpse

from a soul with a human vessel.

Listen to the blood rush through your ears,

vinyl scratch,

clocks tick,

outside whirr, click, growl.

I cannot hug without movement.

I cannot move without sound.

The ocean can not be heard through a shell,

but the reaffirming sound that you are alive can.

I'll never find peace if I seek it through silence.

I shall exist so loudly

that this life makes me deaf.
