Valiance

                              When sleep eludes us
                              that winter sun retreats
to a domain of rock and ice
                              sullied and alkaline
devoid of balm to salve fatigue

Then the valiant moon draws near
                              buoyant in tranquil orbit
                              to feather thorny darkness
                              and gently close our eyes
