I Am... Scholarship Slam

       When I hear the words “I am” many words come to mind. To simply describe myself with only one word from the dictionary would more than likely be impossible! Yes, I know, nothing is impossible. What I meant was, it would be difficult for me to just describe myself with one word. I would like whoever take time out of their day to read my “I Am... Scholarship Slam” to know as much as possible about me.

       To begin I would like to introduce myself. I am Jenny Stacy. I am from Benton County, Indiana. Oxford, Indiana is my current home. At home I am surrounded by corn fields and fall leaves, a beautiful sight. I have not always lived with my current family in Oxford. I have had various homes in Benton County.

        You see, I am a foster child. I moved in with my current, and forever, family June 30, 2013. Childhood, is a strange word to me. I matured fast and have always been my own parent. I never played with Barbies or took cookies out of the cookie jar late at night. Instead, I learned terms like “probation” and “paraphernalia” at the age of seven. My biological parents were in and out of jail all my life. If it were not for friends and family I would have became like biological parents and that is something we all do not want.

         I like to say I am a very humorous and fun person. I enjoy making people laugh and smile. Like all of the teenagers say “you only live once”, so why not enjoy every minute of it? My family and friends are my support system so if I were to see anyone upset I would like to be positive and lift their spirits. I look at it like it’s a pay it forward movement. if I make you happy, promise me to go make someone else happy.

        If I absolutely had to pick a word out of the dictionary to describe me I would choose the word valiant.

I would choose valiant because all my life I had to keep pushing forward and persevering.
