Validation Poem by D’Vante Jerrell Chapman a.k.a. The Black Love Poet

I look at you in the distance

Broken and scarred

And thus far

Your love for me is leaking out of the mason jar

What can I do?

Can’t go back

Only an honest trainer can help me get back on track

You need validation

And this ugly mess we’re when sparked from my own creation

I have the patience

I want our love to last

Deep down I know you do too

But from now on things have to change and so do I

If we’re meant to say our I do’s

Then it must first start with the truth

I have trust issues from my past from being hurt before

My financial planning had an abortion

Decisions, decisions

Haven’t made the best of them in my lifetime

But the truth is

One of the best decisions I’ve ever made is choosing you and our family

I’ll love you for all eternity

I know I’m not perfect, but I want to be perfect for you

I’ll validate your insecurities and trust with the truth

I’ll fight for us, fight for our love, pray for us, and pray for you

I’ll resurrect my finances

Give better decisions chances

I want you to be happy and I want to be the one to keep you smiling

I want to be your better and prove my worth with a wedding ring

Working towards our goals of today, tomorrow, and always

Giving up isn’t my forte

So I won’t give up on us

I keep you in my heart, and hide the key to protect you

I trust you with my life

Our love is worth fighting for and our love is gone go through sacrifice

You just need validation

I just want to lift you up and be your elevation
