Valleys

Cold and alone

In a valley dark and deep

Not a soul in sight

Inside I weep

Strength to portray

Expectations to live up to

Masks to show

There's my cue

Searching but never finding

By fantasies led astray

Constantly hoping beyond hope

That there will be a day

Pounding the ground

To no avail

Raw hands and heart

Hope gone stale
