A vampire's fate

Hunting, stalking, persistent gaze,
Watching, waiting, amongst the haze,
Quite and swift- he strikes with a daze,
Ever so shrill, like a mouse in a maze.
So be it he who walks in the night, so be it he who hides by the light,
So be it he who hunts for the thrill, so be it he who hunts for the kill-
So be it he who hungers for blood, so be it he who echoes with thud,
Unholy death- he walks with no fear, unholy death- he waits till prey’s near.
Unholy death- he loves and he hates, unholy death- bound to eternal fate.
Lingers, staggers, throughout the crowd,
Quick, subtle- a tainted shroud.
Dark, thirsty, he feeds on her neck,
Sly and cunning- his path left in wreck.
Fast, strong willed, lustful at heart
Black and uncaring- he’ll rip you apart.
Black and uncaring- he’ll rip out your heart.
For what he was, what he now is,
A creature of night, now he is this:
A myth of the night, a shadow that is,
Patiently waiting- for that which is his.
Patiently waiting- to get you alone,
Patiently waiting- his prey, they are known.
The bodies that bled now joined with the dead,
The thrill of the chase, so has it been said.
When the sun rise in the sky- they scatter and hide,
Afraid of the dawn- they’ll stay and they’ll wait,
They’ll stay and they’ll wait- so is a vampire’s fate.
