Vanished
Vanished
In our faces’ garden
we were the only flowers,
bunch of roses and lilies
that clambered and twined,
heads hung down, laden
with perfume.
Her heart on my heart,
my heart in hers,
we listened to the music
of debris and dry leaves-
enchanted snakes
in the wind.
We dreamt together,
lilac scent intertwined us in the sweetest dream
until winter’s dreaded
influence meandered
into her thoughts;
our dreams drifted apart.
Her wiles played havoc
with my soul;
I lay awake,
restless.
My tired bones ached.
Grief untamed tossed
my heart,
rained
torrent of tears
on a silver sunset.
My tears of sorrow weaved
chains of pearls for her neck,
a neck (I remember) as tender
as love’s words.
I told my tale,
but it was unheard.
I lived but my life
was bruised.
I yearned for her face’s beauty
cultivated in flesh and blood’s land.
I prayed and prayed and prayed;
she vanished without saying.
