Vanishing
Vanishing
An event will come:
Name of stranding
Human intervention
Notwithstanding
The planets:
Gone, at God’s demanding
His best creation
Blinked out
By his worst machination
But humanity lives
On Its space skiffs
Supplies dwindle
The population amiss
As they search
For a moon among
The ghost light
Of vanished stars
Humanity gone
Decades have passed
All that is left
Is their ship’s masts
First, the food ran out
Then no water
Poured from the spout
And so, humanity
Pride of itself
Met its end
From an empty shelf
But their homes still stand
Their homes among the stars
Drifting through the vacuum
Of empty space
Some collide, some don’t
Some grind against the belt of being
Some land
On left-behind instructions
Most, however
Simply drift
Their storied lives
Ending in silent space
Millenia have passed
The remnants are dust
Fragments, broken down to their beginnings
The fabric of the universe
All the damage
Humanity wrought
Undone, by their undoing
