Vanity

Philippians 2:3 New English Translation (NET Bible)

3 Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself.

Vanity

A toothpick in my hand and a mouth full of falsies

Makes me seem important in this world of make-belief

The leader of the band leading chosen pansies

With dire persistence compliments to receive

The roaring of laughter I take for appreciation

The stroking of my pride fills my need to shine

Prepaid for the hereafter, I’ll rise to the occasion

That all be alright as now everything seems fine
